Study Abroad

The department of Applied Design encourages students to participate in a study abroad program while completing their degree. The department supports both Faculty Led Study Education Abroad Programs and exchange programs.

Faculty Led Education Abroad Programs are developed and run by current faculty members of the department. The department strives to rotate these options so that both faculty and students have a variety of opportunities. Students travel with current Appalachain students and learn form their faculty. The department has developed programs in the following countries: Belgium, Chile, Czech Republic, France, and the United Kingdom. Students can also visit the office of International Programs for additional information.

Exchange programs are avaible in a variety of fields all across the world. The department has formal agreements with Howest (Industrial Design), Lorenzo De' Medici Florence (Apparel Design & Merchandising and Interior Design), and Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (Apparel Design & Merchandising. These agreements ensure students can take courses that will count directly toward their degree requirements. If a student chooses to study at a different school while abroad, they will need to work with the office of International Programs and their specific program director.
