Apparel Design & Merchandising, Industrial Design, and Interior Design are studio based and are designed to be completed in a four year sequence. Transfer students are strongly encouraged to attend "Summer I and Summer II" before their first Fall semester which allows the student to take their required Freshman level courses during the summer sessions. This reduces the time in the program to three years. If the student has taken post secondary course work in design a specific plan should be created in consultation with the specific program director.
During the summer, we typically offer multiple, 1000-level classes for prospective applied design majors. A maximum of 2 courses (6 credits) can be taken in each session.
Summer I
- DSN 1001- Visual Literacy I*
- DSN 1010 - Digital Design: Imaging*
- IND 1401 - Product Design
Summer II
- DSN 1001 - Visual Literacy I
- DSN 1010 - Digital Design: Imaging
- IND 1401 - Product Design
- INT 1002 - Visual Literacy II*
- INT 1100 - Interior Design Studio I*
Successful completion of the four starred (*) classes listed above allows Interior Design students to submit a Freshmen Portfolio for review at the end of the courses.
