Teaching and Research Interest(s)

  • Annie is especially interested in the intersection of social design and furniture. How can the objects we surround ourselves with everyday impact our relationships with others? In 2018, she taught the course The Art of Throwing a Good Party and Making the Furniture That Goes With It, that prompted students to create objects that promote social engagement. Most recently she has expanded this research to include classes, workshops and events titled SRSLY RU OK IRL? (Seriously, are you okay in real life?).
  • Joy, human connection are at the heart of Annie Evelyn's work.

Something Fun

  • I love putting on events! Especially absurd events like the ICFF off-site event Table fights in NYC. Table Fights is: fully automated, remote-controlled, fighting tables that compete for ultimate supremacy in a splinter-thirsty showdown of furniture mayhem. Or Fake Weddings in New Orleans, an event where we pick two strangers and fake marry them! A writer and friend David Ramsey conceived this idea and said: A regular wedding is about the love between two people and Fake Wedding is about love between all of your friends.
