Teaching and Research Interest(s)
Dr. Karis Foster, is passionate about the future of the apparel and textile industry. As a North Carolina native, she cares deeply about the development of sustainable fashion and reshoring initiatives to resurrect the local textile industry. During her graduate studies, she explored the discipline of knitting and the newest 3D knitting technologies currently available. Dr. Foster is the faculty advisor for the Appalachian Apparel Association, App’s student-led apparel club. Her areas of expertise are: knitting, textiles and materials, fashion design and patternmaking, CAD for fashion, CAD patternmaking, technical design and new product development.
